How you present yourself
Applying to a new courier app, depot, or platform? You do not re-do the checks. You present the issued passport. Scanning the QR does not instantly tell them you are valid — it starts a request that only you can approve.
Face to face
Open the full-screen card on your iPhone. The supervisor reads VALID (and the number). They can also scan the QR to attach you in their system — you then tap Approve.
Send the passport number and share link from your mail app. The platform signs in as a business, requests access, and you approve on your phone.
Online / new platform
Paste CP-UK-… into their onboarding field, or send the link. Same consent step. A QR without an issued passport must not scan as a pass.
How it works
Apply
Create an account. Until the pack is complete you have an application, not a passport. A QR from this stage must not look valid.
Complete the pack
Work through identity, licence, and right to work. Add DBS if a hirer asks. Own-van cover is extra.
Get issued
You receive a passport number, digital card, and QR — for example CP-UK-7H3M-K2NQ-W — with a valid-until date.
Share when you choose
Show the iPhone card at a depot, email the number and link, or paste them into a new platform. They request access; you approve. They see status, not your documents.
The required pack
Identity, licence, and right to work must pass before a valid passport is issued. DBS is optional unless a hirer asks. Own-van cover is additive for a named vehicle.

If you drive your own van, we also record goods in transit and public liability for that registration. Courier van insurance sits with them so the named vehicle is covered for courier work, not only social driving.

Keeping it valid
Valid-until is the earliest expiry among the required checks. If goods in transit or public liability lapses, own-van cover stops. Complete the lapsed check and the same passport number is revalidated with a new date.
What this is not
A valid passport means the required checks were completed and are in date. It is not a job offer, not a guarantee of your conduct, and not a transfer of an employer’s legal duties. You stay in control of who can look you up.
Free for drivers
The core passport is free. Businesses pay to look it up. Provider fees for identity, DBS, or occupational health may be passed through if you choose a faster or stronger check.
