Courier Passport

Two stages. One Courier Passport number.

Prove who you are first. An operator confirms identity, licence, and right to work before you hold a passport. Own-van cover is additive on the same number for a named vehicle.

Issued passport

CP-UK-7H3M-K2NQ-W

Same number for job-seeking and own-van cover

Stage 1Identity, licence, right to work

Stage 2Own-van GIT, liability, van insurance

How the passport is built

Stage 1 is required to be issued. DBS is optional unless a hirer asks. Stage 2 is only for drivers who work in their own van.

Stage 1

Job-seeking checks

Complete Veriff identity, then licence and right to work. An operator confirms those details before a passport can be issued. You can then share status with courier businesses.

  1. Check 1 of 3

    Identity

    Veriff facial and document check.

  2. Check 2 of 3

    Driving licence

DVLA licence status, categories, and expiry.

  3. Check 3 of 3

    Right to work

Home Office share code. The hiring business still has the legal duty.

Stage 2

Own-van cover

Additive cover for a named registration: goods in transit, public liability, and courier van insurance. If that cover lapses, own-van status stops. The same passport number stays with you.

  1. Own van

    Goods in transit

Cover for the goods you carry in a named van.

  2. Own van

    Public liability

Cover if your work injures someone or damages their property.

  3. Own van

    Courier van insurance

Motor cover for that van when you use it for courier work.

Drivers

Apply once. Get issued.

Stage 1 is identity, licence, and right to work. Add DBS if a hirer asks. Add stage 2 if you drive your own van. A valid passport is issued only after an operator confirms the required pack.

Businesses

Validate in one API call.

Ask whether a driver holds an issued, currently valid passport. Status includes job-seeking checks and, when they drive their own van, cover for that vehicle. You receive status, not documents.

Developers

Integrate the partner API.

Consent, lookup, status rules, and HMAC webhooks. Keys stay in the business hub.

Insurers

Cover confirmation is available.

Stage 2 needs a live status feed for goods in transit, public liability, and courier van insurance. Insurers can also express interest in listing from-prices or quoting for cover. Courier Passport does not sell insurance.
